Gene Thompson - Senior Partner
Attorney
Gene Thompson is an experienced lawyer who enjoys practicing in small towns and rural areas. His practice focuses on probate and estate planning, bankruptcy, civil litigation including injury, civil rights, and employment law, and criminal defense.
Gene spent over fifteen (15) years in management of small and medium businesses prior to earing his law degree and relies on the lessons learned in his prior career on a daily basis. He believes in giving back to his community and serves on the Board of the Creek County Bar Association and Caring Community Friends, Sapulpa’s local food bank.
Gene has gained recognition for his skills as a lawyer through various awards. He has been selected as a SuperLawyers Rising Star for three consecutive years. Margaret Cook - Senior Partner / Managing Partner of Tahlequah Office

Margaret Cook attended Law School at the University of Tulsa and went on to serve as Executive Director of a Domestic violence service agency before opening her practice. A resident of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Margaret practices in Cherokee, Adair and Wagoner Counties of Northeastern Oklahoma while assisting her legal partner in Creek and Tulsa Counties.
Margaret focuses on Family Law, Disability Claims, Immigration, trusts and wills, defense of criminal misdemeanors, and personal injury cases. She prides herself in being able to listen to her clients and develop individualized legal services based on the clients’ needs. Her background in the fields of domestic violence and sexual assault have developed an innate ability to recognize underlying issues in the legal problems her clients bring to her, giving her a unique perspective to legal solutions.

Erica Carter
Lead Paralegal, Executive Assistant to Mr. Thompson
Erica Carter is a native Okahoman and a 2006 graduate of the University of Oklahoma where she earned her Bachelor degree in Sociology. She later earned her Paralegal Certificate through the National Paralegal College.
Erica holds her certified paralegal (CP) designation from the National Association of Legal Assistants. She provides comprehensive legal support to Mr. Thompson and handles the day to day business and scheduling for the firm.
Erica’s primary responsibilities with the firm include the areas of probate, personal injury/civil litigation, and bankruptcy.
